Everything you need to start your adventure in Valyria. Download the launcher below and run it: it installs the game, keeps it up to date, and starts it for you. The complete world map ships inside the client — there is nothing else to download.
How to install
Installing Valyria takes only a few steps. There is no installer wizard and nothing to extract — the launcher is a single file that sets up the game for you.
Download the launcher
Click Download Valyria Launcher above to get ValyriaLauncher.exe.
If your browser or Windows warns about the file, choose Keep or
More info → Run anyway — it's the official launcher (see the note below).
Run it
Keep the file anywhere you like, for example your Desktop or C:\Valyria, and open it.
The launcher downloads the game into your user folder, verifies every file, and adds a
desktop shortcut. The first run takes a little longer while it downloads the client.
Press Play
When the button turns red and reads PLAY, the game is verified and ready. Press it to start. From now on the launcher updates the game — and itself — automatically every time you open it.
Log in and play
Enter your account name and password and select a character. Don't have an account yet? Create one here in under a minute, then jump straight in.
System requirements
Valyria is lightweight and runs on most computers from the last decade.
The world map & Fog of War
The entire world map is included with the client, so you never have to download map packs or auto-map files separately. There is one twist that makes exploration matter:
Troubleshooting & FAQ
Most launch problems fall into one of these. Try them in order before asking for help.
The client won't start at all
Install Microsoft vc_redist.x86, then restart your computer and try again. This is by far the most common fix.
It crashes, hangs, or looks out of date
Open the launcher, click the gear icon and choose Repair files. It re-checks every game file and downloads again any that are damaged or out of date.
My antivirus or browser flagged the download
Custom game clients are sometimes mistaken for unknown software and flagged as a false positive. As long as you downloaded from clientupdate.valyriaonline.com via this page, it's safe — allow the file and, if needed, add the launcher to your antivirus exclusions.
It runs poorly or won't open on my PC
Switch the renderer: open the launcher, click the gear icon and change Graphics from OpenGL to DirectX (or back). One of the two usually fixes performance or black-screen problems on older graphics drivers.
The launcher doesn't update itself
Keep ValyriaLauncher.exe in a folder your user can write to
(e.g. your Desktop or C:\Valyria), not inside Program Files. The game
itself always installs into your user folder, so it never needs administrator rights.
